Specialized 2.2

Specialized 2.2

For a long time, the "King of Ride Feel." Based on the Brose Drive S Mag, the 2.2 is characterized by its internal belt drive. This made it the quietest motor in the full-power class and ensures extremely natural power delivery without abrupt engagement. Despite its age (basis 2019), it is valued for this organic characteristic. The integration with the "MasterMind TCU" display was groundbreaking. Disadvantage: The belt requires installation space, and the peak power now seems somewhat tame compared to the new 2026 aggregates.

Power Characteristics

Compare all

Shows how much power the motor delivers for a given rider input. The value shown is pure motor power, adjusted for input and drivetrain losses.

Input vs. Output: Specialized 2.2

💡
Analysis

The power delivery of the Specialized 2.2 motor is inconspicuous and tends to be rather restrained. Its rather progressive design ensures that quite high personal effort is needed to reach the maximum output of slightly over 500 watts. This is certainly also due to the fact that Specialized places great value on a natural ride feel.

Cadence Behavior

RPM: Specialized 2.2

💡
Analysis

Regarding cadence behavior, the Specialized 2.2 has to pay some tribute to its advanced age. While it can shine with plenty of support up to a cadence of 50, it then loses power quite significantly beyond that the faster you pedal. On the positive side, however, we do not observe a power hole, and the subjective ride feel should suffer little accordingly.

Analysis

The thermal stability of the 2.9 kg motor is absolutely flawless in our 15-minute test. We record no noteworthy derating, even though the motor housing gets quite hot at over 90°C. Nevertheless: Even heavy riders don't need to worry here, even on hot summer days.
